Wendy Boland, BScPT, CAFCI, CertMDT
Wendy is a Physical Therapist working as the sole proprietor in the relaxing setting of her home in Ottawa. She has enjoyed treating clients with acupuncture since 1999 and teaching with AFCI since 2003.
Kim Bowie, RAc., BSc.PT, CAFCI
Kim Bowie has been teaching with AFCI since 1992. She is also an examiner and a past president of the association. Kim has pioneered many areas of acupuncture including hospital practice, surgical/dental anaesthetic, and labour and delivery support. She is licensed as an acupuncturist with a background in physiotherapy. Her practice is in Calgary, Alberta.
Lianne Chan, BScPT, MClScPT, FCAMPT, CAFCI
Lianne has been applying her CAFCI in private practice since 1995. Trained as a PT, she also has an Advanced Diploma and a Masters of Science degree in Manual Therapy. She enjoys teaching and is an AFCI Facilitator, an appointed University of Toronto Lecturer and Coordinator and an Instructor with the Orthopaedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.
Richard Chen, MBBS, FRCS, CAFCI
Richard is a past Chief of Urology at Trillium Health Centre, and Past Medical Director of Prostate Centre Mississauga and is an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Toronto. Dr. Chen has twelve years of clinical practice in Acupuncture with two research publications in Urinary Incontinence, Chronic Prostatis and Pelvic pain.
Nutan Desai, BSc.(PT), MCPA, CAFCI
Nutan graduated from the University of Bombay, India in 1973 and has been practicing in Canada since 1975. Worked at the University Hospital, London, Ontario as a staff therapist, co-ordinator and Clinical Specialist in Neurotherapy. She presently runs private practices in Woodstock and London, Ontario treating musculoskeletal, neurological and vestibular conditions.
Linda Dyer-MacDonald, BSc(PT), CAFCI
Linda has been a physiotherapist for the past 29 years. She has worked in a hospital, private clinic and is presently owner of Sport-Medic Physiotherapy Clinic. Her training includes orthopaedic, manual therapy and acupuncture. She has been on AFCI faculty since 1997 and is currently on Education and Appeals committee.
Catherine Fuller, PT, CAFCI
Catherine has been a Physiotherapist for 25 years, and the Owner of Stayner Physiotherapy Clinic since 1996. She has been Certified in acupuncture since 1992 and Teaching since 2001. Catherine has been a member and president of the Ontario chapter of the AFCI and is currently President of the AFCI.
Cynthia Gokavi, MBBS., CAFCI
Cynthia graduated from Medicine in India in 1971 and immigrated to Canada in 1973. She practiced family medicine until 1991, and has been the Medical Director at the Gokavi Acupuncture and Pain Clinic since. Cynthia has been a member of AFCI since 1985 and served as President of AFCI. She is the Pioneer and Author, Gokavi Transverse Technique.
Cynthia Grant, BPT, CAFCI
Cynthia Grant is owner of River East Physiotherapy & Sports Fitness Clinic in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She has over 35 years of clinical experience with patients, directing programs and consulting to industry. She is an active member with AFCI since 1987 serving on the provincial and national boards, on the education committee and on faculty as lecturer and examiner.
Ed Gray, BSc.(Hons), DC, CAFCI
Ed has been published in a peer-reviewed journal for his research in rehabilitation, specifically outlining the benefits to patients when a multidisciplinary approach is used in patient care. He utilizes acupuncture as an adjunctive modality to his chiropractic practice, where his experience is that the two therapies compliment each other.
Prem Kapur, MD Frcp.FFR(Lond)
Prem graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 1951, and practiced as a pediatrician in Uganda for 5 years. He immigrated to Canada in 1963 and practiced as a diagnostic radiologist at Hamilton General Hospital for 34 years. He is interested in treating emotional problems, infertility, bowel and bladder disorders and numerous other ailments.
Christene Misener, BSc.PT, FCAMPT, CAFCI
Christene graduated from the Dalhousie School of Physiotherapy in 1989, received her Certificate of Acupuncture in 1997 and her Advanced Manual and Manipulative Therapy Diploma in 1999. She has been a member of the AFCI faculty for 11 years and has been using acupuncture for 18 years. Christene practices in Dartmouth, NS at a private clinic.
Amir Nanji, MD, CCFP, FCFP, CAFCI
Amir has over 30 years experience in medical acupuncture. He has a special interest in acupuncture for pain management. Amir received his training from AFCI and Shanghai School of TCM and is a lecturer, facilitator and examiner for AFCI. He has a certification and fellowship from the College of Family Physicians.
Sona Tahan, MD (Beirut), CAFCI
Sona graduated from French University Medical School in Beirut, Lebanon in 1967. She completed her Anatomical Acupuncture training 1986 and has had a private practice in TCM and Anatomical Acupuncture in Toronto since. Sona is a lecturer, facilitator and examiner for AFCI. International lecturer and past AFCI Director of Education.
Sheila Williams, BMR(PT), CAFCI
Sheila has been a physiotherapist for the past 21 years working in hospital inpatient and outpatient departments as well as private practice. Her training includes orthopedic, manual therapy and acupuncture programs. She has been on AFCI Faculty since 1999 and is currently the Director of Education Administration and a Clinical Lecturer and Examiner for AFCI.
